Orchids
I. D. James
David Bateman
$NZ29.95
THIS is the fourth orchid
book written by Auckland orchid guru I. D. (Jim) James, who was
awarded a gold medal for his contribution to orchids at the 13th
World Orchid Conference in Auckland in 1990. His background as a
hybridiser, judge and orchid exhibitor comes through in this orchid
guide for New Zealand gardeners.
Orchids are among the
most stunning of all plants, and it's easy to be intimidated by
the staggering number of species. Thankfully, Orchids sets
out to offer practical, clear-cut advice about watering, light,
temperature, pests, diseases and potting mediums to suit the types
grown widely here.
Invaluable for orchid
lovers, it includes plenty of helpful photographs for beginner orchid
aficionados looking to identify their own plants and expand their
knowledge.
